چکیده

This work regards fingertip contact detection and localization upon planar surfaces to provide interactivity in augmented displays implemented upon these surfaces, by projector-camera systems. In contrast to the widely employed approach where user hands are observed from above, lateral camera placement avails increased sensitivity to touch detection. An algorithmic approach for the treatment of the laterally acquired visual input is proposed and is comparatively evaluated against

Optical Touch Sensing on Nonparametric Rear-Projection Surfaces for Interactive Physical-Virtual Experiences

We demonstrate a generalizable method for unified multitouch detection and response on various nonparametric and parametric surfaces to support interactive physical–virtual experiences. The method employs multiple infrared (IR) cameras, one or more projectors, IR light sources, and a rear-projection surface. IR light reflected off human fingers is captured by cameras with matched IR pass filter...

Combining Direct and Indirect Touch Input for Interactive Desktop Workspaces using Gaze Input

Interactive workspaces combine horizontal and vertical touch surfaces into a single digital workspace. During an exploration of these systems, it was shown that direct interaction on the vertical surface is cumbersome and more inaccurate than on the horizontal one. To overcome these problems, indirect touch systems turn the horizontal touch surface into an input devices that allows manipulation...

A Gui for Projector-camera Using Touch Detection

In this paper, we propose a novel interactive projection system (IPS), which enables bare-finger touch interaction on regular planar surfaces (e.g., walls, tables), with only one standard camera and one projector. The challenge of bare-finger touch detection is recovering the touching information just from the 2-D image captured by the camera. In our method, the graphical user interface (GUI) b...

Advanced Natural and Tangible Interfaces for Spatial Information

Since 6000 years humans have used maps to navigate through space and solve other spatial tasks. Nearly all of time maps were drawn or printed on a piece of paper (or on material like stone or papyrus) of a certain size. Thus the two most common interaction methods were: (i) Holding the map in both hands (ii) or putting the map on a tabletop and perform specific tasks. Nowadays maps can be displ...

Multi-Haptics: Remote Tactile Feedback on Multitouch Surfaces

Multi-touch input using multiple fingertips or hands has become the de-facto standard for the interaction with interactive surfaces such as tablets, tabletops or interactive walls. For single touch input, the addition of synchronous tactile feedback has shown to be beneficial in terms of reducing error-rates, increasing interaction speed and minimizing visual load. However, to this day, the non...
